Substrates
on all levels of construction are renovated or scrutinized for
levelness and quality. Many renovations have previous floor finishes
removed and replaced with finishes not compatible with the demolition
performed and require some additional remediation. Some substrates
placed in operation have received harsh treatment causing aggregate
exposure or spalling from weather exposure, chemical attack, and
abrasive wear require some remedial attention prior to floor placement.
All of these situations can dictate some type of underlayment
or topping system that fits a corrective process and economic
balance of the renovation available.
Preparation of substrates usually leaves unacceptable profile
signature in the concrete substrate for the adhesives and floor
finishes. Once the area has been treated for moisture vapor, a
cementitious topping is applied from ?” to not over ¼”, depending
on the need and severity of the required correction and sensitivity
of the floor finish and profile of the substrate. On Track Technologies
has also applied the self leveling material to simple level the
surface to a finer flatness when moisture protection was not a
concern on the project.
